Christian Magoon
Christian Magoon is CEO and founder of Magoon Capital. His firm provides strategic counsel on product development, marketing and distribution to asset management companies involved in the exchange — traded fund (ETF) business. Christian is also a recognized thought leader in the investment and ETF industry, a published author, an award winning user of social media platforms and a regular commentator in the U.S. media.

Prior to forming Magoon Capital in 2010, Christian was President of Claymore Securities (now Guggenheim Investments), where he led the firm’s product development, distribution and marketing efforts. Christian built one of the fastest growing and most innovative ETF businesses in the country, gathering more than $3 billion in AUM in three years. He has launched 50 ETFs to date, introducing many “firsts” to the U.S. market, including the first Frontier Markets, Solar Energy, Timber, BRIC, Multi Asset Income and suite of China focused ETFs.
Christian Magoon consistently provides his industry insights and knowledge as a commentator in the U.S. media. He is a member of the Wall Street Journal’s Panel on Wealth Management called “The Experts.” As part of that panel Magoon contributes written and video content to the publication. In 2013 @ChristianMagoon was recognized as a top 10 investment expert to follow on Twitter by the Wall Street Journal. In 2012 ETF Database, a leading ETF research provider, named Magoon a “Top Five ETF Expert To Follow On Twitter.” In 2011, Financial Planning magazine dubbed Christian an “ETF Pioneer.” In 2008, he was named one of “Five People To Watch In The U.S. ETF Industry” by Institutional Investor. Christian Magoon regularly contributes his written insights to leading financial sites including the NASDAQ, Seeking Alpha, Motley Fool, Index Universe, Financial Advisor Magazine and ETF Daily News. He participates in a variety of investment conferences throughout the year as a speaker, moderator and panelist.
Christian Magoon has had the honor of ringing the opening bell to begin the trading day at the NYSE Euronext multiple times. He obtained his Bachelor of Arts and Master’s degrees from Wheaton College in Illinois.
